• To make your bridal gown purchase even thriftier, consider selling your dress on Ebay after your wedding is over. Dresses that are generally worn once by each recipient can change owners many time before they wear out.
  
  
• If you do choose to purchase a used gown, be sure to ask in advance about the refund policy. If you buy on Ebay, check the rating for the seller. You may be better off buying a dress from a use bridal "consolidator" (it's a growing business!) and paying a bit more of a mark up. Regular Ebay sellers have more of a track record and have to be concerned with referrals and repeat business more than a new bride with a single wedding dress to sell.
  
  
• Be sure to include the cost of alterations, shipping, insurance and cleaning fees in the total cost when deciding whether to purchase your wedding dress new or used. Check with your drycleaner on how much it costs to have a wedding dress cleaned - the amount may surprise you.
